I made this game in a moment of sudden inspiration. A friend made some very insightful comments about me, and the idea walked into my head fully formed. I had to make it straight away.

Nice) I took it as a metaphor for opportunities and self-esteem and that kind of stuff. And I really enjoyed it :)
That's definitely one way to look at it. I've also heard people think that it's about romantic relationships or struggling with depression. It's really interesting hearing everyone's different takes.
